Elle Fanning brought royal inspiration to the 2024 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday. Fanning was nominated for the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy award at the Golden Globes for her titular role in “The Great.”
Fanning arrived at the Beverly Hills event in a vintage Balmain gown. The off-white, strapless piece featured a ballgown silhouette and boasted a large bow across her bodice.
“This dress was pulled from Balmain’s archives for me, so it’s very special,” Fanning said to WWD. “You get nervous wearing something so fragile that’s like a museum art piece, but it’s made so beautifully it’s going to last forever. It’s the perfect dress for tonight.”
Fanning also donned Cartier jewelry, including a diamond necklace and diamond earrings shaped like wings. Her Cartier earrings were further accentuated by Fanning’s side-parted bun. The actress finished her ensemble with gold, pointed pumps and a soft, berry-colored lip.
Fanning has been previously nominated for Golden Globes in 2022 and 2021, but this is technically her first time walking the award show’s red carpet, as the 2021 ceremony was remote due to the pandemic, and the 2022 ceremony was not broadcast.
In August, it was announced that Hulu’s “The Great” would be canceled after three seasons. The period comedy starred Fanning as Catherine the Great, alongside Nicholas Hoult. The actress has since made her Broadway debut in 2023 in the drama, “Appropriate,” as River, at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater in New York, with Sarah Paulson.
Fanning has been a brand ambassador for Paco Rabanne’s Fame fragrance since 2022 and Cartier since 2023, as well as a past campaign star for Alexander McQueen, Miu Miu and Marc by Marc Jacobs. [Source]
